Over the weekend, the deviantART HeadQuarters have released their massive weekly Site Updates journal again! :happybounce: This week, it included a couple of tweaks to journals that may have effects on your journal skins.

  1. Journal Titles
For consistency and accessibility, titles of journal will always be links. Some journal skins will be affected by this change. Skin designers: you may have to adjust your CSS to override any unexpected changes to the title of your journal skin. - Added by kemayo

In other words, the journal title is now not only a h2 but also an a, so the styles you (and/or dA's own CSS) specified for links will apply to it too... From my understanding, in many cases simply styling h2 a { instead of just h2{ will help prevent this :) and don't forget a:hover and a:visited :D Edit: Thanks to Drake1/gillianivyart for this trick: try adding .gr-top h2 a{ color:inherit; text-decoration:none;} (to gruze skins) or .journaltop h2 a{ color:inherit; text-decoration:none; } (for old style skins) and that might fix it :dummy:
  2. Max Width
Journals on the deviation page no longer have a max width. - Fixed by kemayo

What this means for you depends on your skin, you may want to set a width or max-width for it to avoid long text going out of the box in some occasions.
  3. Other nice journal additions :happybounce:
    • Pasted embed codes from other sites now get turned into our own accepted markup (e.g. YouTube's provided code now works). - Added by inazar
    • Removed a barely visible white line from the default journal skin. We had to take out a magnifying glass to confirm that it was there. - Fixed by Alisey
    • You can now share journals in chat by using :thumb: codes. - Added by KnightAR

And this last part is unrelated, but you may want to know anyway :dummy: Unfortunately, there's a bug with editing journals, where it takes some deviants to sta.sh when using the "edit journal entries" button on me.deviantart.com/journal/ . Clicking the blue "edit" button on the journal itself seems to get you further but I heard you may get stuck here when trying to save the edits. It's been reported to the Help Desk, until it's resolved I'm afraid there's no workaround to it to my knowledge. Most people I spoke to in :#help: about this either decided to post a new journal instead or to wait until it's fixed :)
Edit: more information in this Status Forum update :)
